Community Benefits

Metrolinx recognizes that its major infrastructure investments should also provide benefits for the communities in which it works, including employment, apprenticeship, and local supplier opportunities where possible. It has therefore committed to include a community benefits program for the Toronto Transit Projects beginning with the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rapid Transit line (LRT).

In July 2015 Crosslinx Transit Solutions (CTS) was selected as the private partner to design, construct, and finance and maintain an integrated transit system consisting of 25 stations/stops, track work, signaling, communications and other required infrastructure (i.e. maintenance and storage facility).

As part of the Project Agreement with Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario, CTS submitted their Community Benefits & Liaison and their Apprenticeship Plans, outlining their commitment to apprenticeship, employment, local procurement and social enterprises. These Plans have been reviewed and approved by Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario.
