Experience Eglinton

1003 Eglinton Avenue West, 416-760-9027, www.artisticway.ca

It’s probably no surprise that paint nights, where you can show up and paint without having to buy all the material or clean up afterwards, have become extremely popular in Toronto.

Artistic Way was one of the first places to bring this wonderful pastime to Torontonians.

Celebrating its 10th year at the Eglinton Avenue West and Allen Road location this year, Artistic Way has become a staple in the community. Owners Neb and Natasha, a husband and wife team, are artists from Europe.

Artistic Way carries dozens of ceramic items, cups and plates, which start at $15 and make for wonderful, customized gifts.

“We have customers from babies making hand prints to 90-something year olds making paintings!” says Natasha. “We have drop in options as well as structured art classes.”

After the customer paints the item, Natasha glazes it, then puts it in a kiln that goes up to 1000 degree Celsius. “After glazing, everything looks fantastic!” says Natasha.

Neb and Natasha’s favourite part – and the part they’re most proud of – is the art school component. They have been teaching both adults and children for many years, and the teenagers who they assisted with portfolios for university applications have reported 100 per cent enrollment acceptance rates.

Aside from ladies’ nights and bachelorette parties that allow groups to bring their own food and drinks, Artistic Way, which can hold up to 28 people, also hosts many corporate events.

“Spending an afternoon painting with your colleagues is great for team building,” says Neb.
