Additional Dewatering Wells for the Avenue Station Main Entrance
WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
The term “dewatering” means pumping water from the ground at a site where there will be excavation. At Eglinton Avenue West and Avenue Road, small wells have been drilled around the entire station box where the underground mining excavation will be taking place. The dewatering system is installed in two phases, drilling of the wells and then digging shallow trenches to connect the wells and lay the pipes, pumps, and valves for the system. What Work is Happening?
The Eglinton Crosstown includes a 10-kilometre underground portion, between Weston Road and Laird Drive, where 15 below-grade stations are under construction. Eleven will be built using a “cut-and cover” method and four, including Avenue Station, are going to be “mined.”
Excavation of the Main Entrance at Avenue Station is nearing completion and mining will begin soon. Lire la suite »

Mining Equipment Mobilization - 24 Hour Work - Avenue Station Main Entrance
WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
Mining operations will begin at the Avenue Station Main Entrance in Spring 2018. The mining equipment is planned to be delivered to the site during the weekend of March 2 – 4.
In order to lower the heavy mining equipment to the bottom of the Main Entrance shaft, a temporary crane will be erected on Eglinton Avenue. This crane will take up one additional westbound lane of traffic, just west of Avenue Road. Lire la suite »
