What Work is Taking Place?
As part of ongoing utility relocation work for the future Science Centre Station, crews will be conducting hydro infrastructure work at the intersection of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East the week of May 1.
Timing
- Work began on May 4, 2017 and will continue the week of May 8th.
- Work is permitted to occur in the roadway between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
- Work outside of the roadway may occur between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Construction zones will be established in the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East intersection.
- Residents and businesses near construction sites should anticipate noise from excavators, bobcats, hydro vac trucks and/or other construction equipment during this work.
Traffic Details
- Lane reductions are required to safely conduct all phases of this work.
- Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction.
- Additional lane reductions and/or turn restrictions may be put in place. Signage will be placed to advise motorists of restrictions.
- Paid-Duty Police Officers will be present during this work.
Pedestrian Details
- Existing crosswalk and sidewalk closures will remain in effect.
- Please watch for signs directing pedestrians to alternate routes.
- Property access will be maintained.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
Transit Details
- Relocation of bus stops and re-routing is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
- Please watch for posted notices indicating new information.
