WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Starting as early as January 8, crews will be completing Bell utility relocation work on the northeast corner of Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West. This work will take place in the roadway and on the sidewalk. As a result, traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one shared lane, east of Bathurst, alternating traffic in each direction. To minimize the impact to pedestrians and road users, this work will be performed overnight. Temporary lane and sidewalk closures will be in effect.

The sidewalk and lane will be reinstated upon completion of the work.

TIMING

  • January 8 – 22, 2018 (approximately two weeks to complete)
  • Overnight from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Pedestrian rerouting will be in effect.
  • Some noise from construction activity as well as sight lighting can be expected
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when travelling through the intersection

 

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • Eglinton Avenue West will be reduced to one lane only from Bathurst Street to east of the Main Entrance, alternating traffic in each direction.
  • The northeast sidewalk on Eglinton Avenue will be closed.
  • Pedestrians will be rerouted around the Main Entrance. 
  • A Paid-Duty Officer (PDO) will be present on-site to direct traffic.
