Three boreholes, from surface to tunnel level, are required to be drilled into the road to assess and monitor soil conditions around the Avenue Station mining works.

To do this work, two of three lanes on Eglinton must be closed. Due to the position of the existing barriers and utilities, it was determined that there is no technical or practical way to do the work during the day. To minimize traffic disruption for the community, transit users and local businesses, this work is being done overnight. Paid Duty Police Officers will maintain safe traffic flow.

Starting as soon as June 18 between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., crews will be working on Eglinton Avenue West between Highbourne Avenue and Lascelles Boulevard.

  • As early as June 18. Work will occur between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.
  • Work will take approximately two (2) weeks to complete.
  • *Timelines are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances
  • A work zone will be set up while work is taking place overnight. Crews will be moving along the roadway from west to east and equipment is expected to change position approximately every 3 days. The holes will then be covered with steel plates during the day.

Three holes will be drilled into the roadway and down toward the tunnels on Eglinton Avenue West in the following areas:

  • Between Highbourne Road and Oriole Parkway
  • Between Oriole Parkway and Eastbourne Avenue
  • Between Eastbourne Avenue and Lascelles Boulevard

  • There are no pedestrian impacts associated with this work.
  • Lane reductions will be in place on Eglinton Avenue West in the vicinity of the construction zone.
  • On-street parking spaces will not be available on the block where work is taking place.
  • A traffic control person will be present.
