What Work Is Happening?
- In preparation for building Eglinton Station, many utilities must be relocated to allow for support of excavation. To support the relocation of Toronto Hydro-Electric System, crews will be digging trenches to install new duct banks and relocating the existing services.
- Work will start along Roehampton Avenue, moving south on the east side of Redpath Avenue between Roehampton Avenue and Eglinton Avenue, and crossing to the west side of Redpath Avenue, just north of Eglinton Avenue. Thereafter, the construction zone will shift to the southeast corner of Yonge and Eglinton.
Timing
- Work is expected to begin as early as late December and will last for approximately four weeks.
- Work is expected to occur between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m., up to seven (7) days a week. Permitted hours are until 11:00 p.m.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
- Work is subject to permits and all relevant approvals, and may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Equipment and work trucks will be present along Roehampton Avenue, Redpath Avenue, and Eglinton Avenue as crews dig the trench for the new hydro-electric duct banks.
- There will be a temporary sidewalk closure on the south side of Eglinton Avenue from Yonge Street to Cowbell Lane.
- Temporary lane reductions will be required to carry out the work.
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, vacuum trucks, and the use of heavy equipment.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
The construction set-up will shift often.
Please look for posted signage as you travel through the area.
