What Work is Taking Place? 

As early as April 13, 2020, crews will begin preliminary works for the lowering of a watermain on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East, in front of 1730 Eglinton Avenue East.

All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown and new LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the center of Eglinton Avenue East.

 Hours of Work

• Preliminary construction activities will begin as early as April 13, 2020 for a period of approximately one (1) week.
• The week of April 20, 2020, one overnight water outage will be required to lower and reconnect the watermain. A separate notice will be issued to affected properties.
• Once the watermain has been lowered, road reinstatement activities will take place for approximately three (3) days.
• Work may occur between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, seven (7) days a week.
• The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.
• This work may be delayed or rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

• Construction activities include:

Removal of existing road base

Hydrovacing

Excavation

Lowering of watermain

Testing and reconnection of watermain

Road reconstruction and paving

• One overnight water outage will be required, a separate notice will be provided to the affected properties.
• Noise from construction activities can be expected.
• Equipment and material storage within the work zone.

Traffic, Pedestrian, TTC Impacts

• No impacts to the current traffic configuration.
• No impacts to current pedestrian routes.
• No impacts to TTC stops.
