Utility works and geotechnical tests scheduled for the future Caledonia, Dufferin Oakwood, Bathurst and Chaplin LRT Stations

janvier 18, 2016

Starting in early January, a work crew will be seen conducting survey, locating utilities, and drilling boreholes to obtain additional information of sub-surface utilities and ground conditions near the future LRT Stations for Caledonia, Dufferin, Oakwood, Bathurst and Chaplin.

Why: Metrolinx continues to build the Eglinton Crosstown Line (Line). It is now partnering with Crosstown Transit Solutions (CTS) to design and construct the stations and stops, track work, and signaling system for the Line. Before starting construction on the future Crosstown Stations, CTS will conduct a number of activities to prepare the LRT corridor for construction.

What work is starting?

  • A crew will conduct utility investigation to locate, mark and inspect underground water utilities along Eglinton Avenue around the intersections of Caledonia, Dufferin, Oakwood, Bathurst and Chaplin.
  • The crew will cut bore holes and test holes in the road asphalt and sidewalk to confirm the existing data of soil, rocks, and utilities conditions in the area.
  • You will see heavy trucks and equipment in the area as crews move from one test hole to the next.
  • While work is underway, nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear some noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, hydro-vaccing, and use of heavy equipment.

  • Work is expected to begin in the second week of January 2016.
  • Activities will last for a short duration and will occur between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.
