Overnight Toronto Hydro Electric-System Work at Mount Pleasant Station

What Work is Taking Place?

To accommodate the underground structure of Mount Pleasant Station, existing utility lines must be relocated. On Monday, October 2nd, 2017, Toronto Hydro-Electric Systems (THESL) wires will be removed through the hydro chamber on the south east corner of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East. During this time, Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one single lane. To minimize disruption, this work will be completed at night when traffic volumes are reduced.

Hours of Work 

  • This work will be performed overnight to minimize disruption to traffic.  
  • Monday October 2 at 10:00 p.m. through 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 3
  • This work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Minimal noise from trucks can be expected.
  • Sight lighting can be expected.
  • Motorists can expect delays when travelling through the intersection.
  • Paid duty officers will be on site, directing traffic.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
  • Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one shared lane for eastbound and westbound traffic.
  • Pedestrians will be restricted from crossing east to west on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East.  
  • As always, please take care when travelling near construction zones.
