Overnight Traffic Set Up at Leaside Station for Stage 2

What Work is Taking Place?

On Tuesday, January 2, 2018 starting at approximately 9:00 p.m., crews will make changes to the existing traffic staging at Bayview Ave and Eglinton Ave E to accommodate the next stage of shoring in the roadway. Set up work will last approximately 14 hours. Shoring at Leaside Station is being completed in several stages. This stage 2 will be in place until approximately Spring 2018.


  • Work to change the existing set-up will occur overnight and is expected to start at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 and will take approximately 14 hours, finishing at mid-day on Wednesday, January, 3, 2018.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. Alternate dates for this work are the night of Wednesday, January 3 into mid-day on Thursday, January 4, 2018.
  • Regular construction operations will occur during daytime hours before and after the set up.

Upcoming Traffic Stage

What to Expect

  • Pedestrians, businesses and residents near the work site can expect to hear trucks, removal and replacement of existing line paint, movement of concrete barriers and fencing, work on traffic lights and poles and other construction equipment.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

Once, the set-is complete the following changes will be implemented for stage 2.


  • Lane reductions will be in place; however, a minimum of one through lane will be maintained in all directions.
  • Westbound left turn will be prohibited (Eglinton Ave westbound to Bayview Ave southbound).
  • Eastbound right turn will be prohibited (Eglinton Ave eastbound to Bayview southbound).
  • Westbound left turn will be prohibited from Eglinton Ave westbound to Mann Ave southbound.
  • All other right turns will be restricted to no right turns allowed when the light is red.


  • The north-south crosswalk on the west side of Bayview Ave will be closed.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained, but may be rerouted around construction zones.
  • Overhead protection for pedestrians will be in place at various locations near the work zone
