Storm Sewer Installation Work at Taunton Rd Resuming Mt. Pleasant Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Since last year, crews have been completing storm sewer installation on Eglinton Avenue East at Taunton Road and Brownlow Avenue.  Storm sewer installation and connection work at the Brownlow Avenue site is now complete.  Work at the Taunton Road site has been on hold temporarily while the new manholes are designed and procured.  It will resume as early as Wednesday August 15 and is expected to continue through October 2018. 

The remaining work involves construction and installation of two new manholes, which will be connected to the new storm sewer infrastructure installed earlier this year.  This work will be carried out within regular construction hours, 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Hours of Work

  • As early as August 15, 2018 for approximately two (2) months
  • Permitted hours are 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday
  • Note: work may be delayed or rescheduled due to changing or unforeseen circumstances

Upcoming Construction Staging

What to Expect

  • Surface  equipment will be mobilized to the Taunton Road site, including hydro-vacuum trucks, concrete trucks, dump trucks, loaders, excavators, pumps, water truck and generators, and will be in operation during permitted hours
  • Material storage within the work zone can be expected
  • A trailer will be mobilized to the southwest corner of Eglinton Ave E and Mt Pleasant Rd, within the work zone, and utilized by construction staff
  • Noise from construction activity can be expected
  • Taunton Rd work area will extend slightly further south to accommodate the sewer work, which may result in the current pedestrian detour being shifted further south to accommodate this extension  

Traffic Details

  • Access to the Taunton Rd site will be facilitated via the east gate on Eglinton Ave E
  • Taunton Rd will remain closed at Eglinton Ave E for the duration of this work
