Rolling Sidewalk Closures for Civil Road Work from Victoria Park Avenue to Pharmacy Road

What Work is Taking Place?

In support of construction of the future At Grade stops, crews will be conducting civil works in relation to road widening works on both the north and south sides of Eglinton Avenue East between Victoria Park Avenue and Pharmacy Road.

Work will begin as early as Tuesday, September 18, 2018 and will last for approximately eight (8) weeks.

Rolling sidewalk closures will be in effect for the duration of this work. Property access will be maintained at all times. Some delays can be expected.

Hours of Work

  • Beginning as early as Tuesday, September 18, 2018 for approximately eight (8) weeks.
  • Rolling sidewalk closures will take place in the following sequence below over the period between Tuesday, September 18th and approximately FridayNovember 9th:
    • Victoria Park to Eglinton Square, south sidewalk;
    • Victoria Park to Eglinton Square, north sidewalk;
    • Eglinton Square to Pharmacy, north sidewalk; and
    • Eglinton Square to Pharmacy, south sidewalk
  • Permitted construction hours are 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Sidewalk closures will be in effect, pedestrian detours can be expected.
  • Delays can be expected when accessing properties surrounding the work zone.
  • Noise from construction activity can be expected.
  • Equipment and material storage will be present.
  • This work may be rescheduled or delayed due to unforeseen circumstances or inclement weather.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
  • In the event of relocation, please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
