What Work Is Taking Place?

In mid-January 2019, a new traffic configuration will be implemented at Forest Hill Station. Traffic on Bathurst Street will be shifted to the east side, while traffic on Eglinton Avenue will remain on the south.  This configuration will be in place for approximately three (3) weeks, followed by another traffic change at the intersection in early February 2019. Pile installation, excavation and wet utilities work will continue through winter 2019.

This configuration will be implemented overnight, when traffic is lighter, to minimize the impact to TTC and the travelling public.

A closure of Bathurst Street one block north of Eglinton Avenue is still being proposed to accelerate construction of Forest Hill Station. For more information, please visit the Upcoming Events page on our website www.thecrosstown.ca

Upcoming Traffic Configuration

  • Mid-January 2019 for approximately three (3) weeks
  • Traffic configuration will be implemented overnight beginning at 9:00 p.m.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances

What to Expect

  • Traffic on Bathurst Street will be shifted to the east
  • The west crosswalk will be temporarily eliminated and the east crosswalk will be reinstated
  • Peveril Hill N will remain closed at Eglinton Avenue
  • Noise, lighting and traffic delays can be expected while the changes are being implemented

Thank you for your patience as we work to build this important project.

Update on Tonight’s Crosstown Town Hall Meeting

TORONTO: Metrolinx and Crosslinx recognize the concerns of the community and the local councillors, and have decided not to pursue the proposal to close Bathurst Street one block north of Eglinton Avenue West. The permit application to the City of Toronto for this work has been withdrawn.

We acknowledge we could have done a better job engaging the community and the councillors. While closing Bathurst Street would have accelerated construction of Forest Hill Station by three months, we understand the community did not feel this benefit outweighed the impacts on area residents and business owners.

Metrolinx is building one of the largest transit projects in North American through highly congested, urbanized neighbourhoods. We know that construction can be disruptive and we will continue to work very hard with Crosslinx to minimize the impacts. Metrolinx and Crosslinx will continue to communicate with and engage the local community and elected representatives on all construction activities pertaining to the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

As part of that commitment, residents are still encouraged to attend tonight’s town hall to give their input on this critical infrastructure project.
