Lane Reductions at Fairbank Station UPDATE: January 6-31, 2020

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Crews at Fairbank station continue working on connections of the dewatering wells to the header pipes. To complete this work, the eastbound lane on Eglinton Ave W, west of Dufferin St, and the southbound lane on Dufferin St, south of Eglinton Ave W will be closed. One lane on Dufferin Street and one lane on Eglinton Avenue W will remain open, and two-way traffic will be controlled by traffic control personnel and Paid Duty Officers. From Thursday January 23 – Friday January 24, lanes will be reduced from as early as 10:00am – 2:00pm. Lanes will also be reduced from Monday January 27 until Friday January 31. 

 

TIMING

  • From Thursday January 23 – Friday January 24, lanes will be reduced from as early as 10:00am – 2:00pm.
  • From Monday January 27 – Friday January 31, lanes will be reduced from as early as 10:00am – 2:00pm.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
  • This work may be longer or shorter than expected.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

  • Crews will be connecting dewatering wells to the header pipes on the southwest corner of Dufferin St and Eglinton Ave W.
  • Upon completion of the works, Dufferin St and Eglinton Ave W will re-open to two lanes.
  • There will be flagpersons directing traffic through the area for the duration of the work.
  • Noise from construction activity can be expected.

TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS

  • Access to properties at the intersection will be maintained.
  • The north, south, and west crosswalks at the intersection will remain open. The east crosswalk will remain closed.
  • The southbound lane on Dufferin St and the eastbound lane on Eglinton Ave W will be temporarily closed.
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones.
  • Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.

 

Travelling Smart During Construction

Travel delays are expected with Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
