Update: Extended Construction Hours at Mount Pleasant Station

février 26, 2020

What Work is Taking Place?

Starting in February 2020, crews will begin deep excavation, the second phase of extended construction at Mount Pleasant Station. Excavators and cranes will be used to remove soil from beneath the station roof to reach the LRT tunnels.  Excavated soil will be loaded into dump trucks and hauled to an off-site soil facility. Trucks will stage along Eglinton Avenue East and inside the work zones, entering and exiting through the main and secondary entrances. Occasionally, crews will need to chip away hardened material from the excavation. Chipping is expected to take place in increments of approximately one week.  Deep excavation will take place from the main and secondary station entrances. This phase will continue into summer 2020.  On-site mitigation measures will be in place to minimize disruption caused by this work.

Construction will take place on a 24-hour basis.  However, the overnight period is generally reserved for excavation, hauling excavated material, utility work and site preparation.  Crews will endeavour to perform noisier work, such as chipping and drilling, between 6:00 a.m. and midnight.  Please carefully review ‘What to Expect’ for more information.
