What Work is Taking Place?

Crews at Fairbank continue fine-tuning and monitoring the dewatering well pumps and infrastructure. To facilitate this work, occasional lane reductions are required. When work occurs, the southbound lane on Dufferin St, south of Eglinton Ave W will be closed. One lane on Dufferin St will remain open, and two-way traffic will be controlled by traffic control personnel and Paid Duty Officers. Lanes will be reduced between the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for approximately one hour on Wednesdays until the end of 2020.

Hours of Work

  • Every Wednesday until the end of 2020
  • Lanes will be reduced between the hours of 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for approximately one hour
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances
  • This work may be longer or shorter than expected

What to Expect

  • Crews will be fine-tuning and monitoring the dewatering pumps on the southwest corner of Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West
  • Upon completion of the works, Dufferin Street will re-open to two lanes
  • There will be flag persons directing traffic through the area for the duration of the work
  • Noise from construction activity can be expected
  • Local and pedestrian access will be maintained
  • Property access will be maintained
  • Expect delays while travelling near work zones 

Traffic & Pedestrian Details

  • The north, south, and west crosswalks at the intersection will remain open; the east crosswalk will remain closed
  • Access to properties at the intersection will be maintained
  • The southbound lane on Dufferin Street will be temporarily closed
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones

Travelling Smart during Construction

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
