What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will begin road widening activities on the south side of Eglinton Ave E, west of Brentcliffe Road as early as September 30, 2020. To accommodate these activities, a traffic change will be implemented and remain in place for approximately three weeks. All works are in support of the construction of the Crosstown LRT tracks and guideway (dedicated transit lane) in the centre of Eglinton Avenue East.

What to Expect

Roadworks will include, saw cutting and concrete removals, construction of new sidewalks and curb, installation of new pavers, installation of new traffic lighting elements and final paving.

Hours of Work

  • Work will begin as early as September 30, 2020 and continue for approximately three (3) weeks.
  • Work may occur from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven (7) days per week, Monday through Sunday.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Details

  • Traffic will be reduced to one eastbound lane west of Brentcliffe Road.
  • A shared through and right turn lane will be available for eastbound traffic at the intersection.
  • Closure of the east driveway at 849 Eglinton Avenue East will be in place for approximately one week. Access will be maintained at the west driveway on Eglinton Avenue East as well as the two driveways on Vanderhoof Avenue.

 Pedestrian Details

  • The pedestrian walkway will remain available on the south side of Eglinton Avenue, east of Brentcliffe Road.
  • The pedestrian walkway will only be available on the north side of Eglinton Avenue, west of Brentcliffe Road.
  • Pedestrians will be rerouted around the work zone on the west side of Brentcliffe Road, south of Eglinton Avenue East.

 Transit Information

  • The eastbound TTC stop at the intersection will be shifted east of Brentcliffe Road.

Other Information

  • Due to the nature of this work, at times there will be noise and vibration around the work area.
