Decommissioning Monitoring Wells on Eglinton Avenue East, Don Mills Road to Wynford Drive
Decommissioning Monitoring Wells on Eglinton Avenue East, Don Mills Road to Wynford Drive
What Work is Taking Place?
Crews have begun decommissioning monitoring wells across the alignment. The wells served as part of the Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring Program (GIMP). The wells will be decommissioned in sections. Some wells will require temporary lane reductions in the area. When a lane reduction is required, one lane will remain open, and two-way traffic will be controlled by traffic control personnel and/or Paid Duty Officers. As early as Thursday, May 19, crews will move into the area between Don Mills Road and Wynford Drive. Decommissioning each well will take approximately two hours; upon completion, crews will move onto the next well.
What to Expect
Crews will be using a drill rig to decommission monitoring wells from the Eglinton Crosstown construction. Occasional lane reductions may be required, depending on the location of the well. Eglinton Ave E and adjacent streets will remain open. Property access will be maintained. Expect delays when travelling near work zones.
