Pedestrian Details

Allen road sidewalk detours updated July 24 2014

West of Eglinton West Subway Station

  • Pedestrians will be re-routed from Park Hill Road on the pedestrian walkway north of the construction site and back to Eglinton Avenue where they may cross at the traffic signal to Eglinton West Station.

East of Eglinton West Subway Station

  • The pedestrian crossing at the northbound Allen Road ramp will be closed for long-term construction.
  • Pedestrians will not be able to cross the Allen Road Northbound ramp. Instead, pedestrians will be re-routed to the south side of Eglinton Avenue to  access Eglinton West Subway Station.
  • Please use the designated pedestrian traffic signals when crossing at Flanders and Glenarden/Westover Hill.
  • Access to Eglinton Avenue from the pedestrian walkway (parallel to Allen Road on the east side from Wembley Road to Eglinton Avenue West)  will be closed.

Please watch for posted signs detouring pedestrians in the area and take care when travelling near construction areas.

Metrolinx has been working closely with the City of Toronto, the TTC, elected officials, and police to monitor the situation and to consider modifications to current arrangement that allow Crosstown construction to continue on schedule, alleviate some of the traffic congestion and, ensure the safety of pedestrians along Eglinton Avenue.

Transforming transit across the middle of Toronto involves significant road works. Construction will be visible along the corridor and on some side streets. There will be short-term local street closures and turning restrictions to allow for the construction to take place. Adjustments to the local road configurations, work zones and other day to day items such as signage and temporary adjustments will be implemented, as necessary.
