What Work is Taking Place?

  • Backfilling and compaction is the next stage of construction at the Mount Pleasant Station Main Entrance (256-258 Eglinton Avenue East, the former Second Cup building), located on the north west corner of Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East.
  • This work involves refilling and leveling the demolition site with fresh granular material, compaction of the material into the ground, and construction of the crane and drill rig pad.
  • This activity will prepare the site for support of excavation, the following phase of construction.

Timing

  • Beginning in early October 2016 for approximately two (2) weeks.
  • This work will take place between the hours of 7:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • In the event that overnight work is required, Metrolinx will notify the public in advance and monitor activities throughout.
  • This work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Given the size and weight of the crane and drill rig, compaction requirements are rigorous. As a result, nearby properties will experience moderate to significant vibration.
  • Nearby properties can also expect to hear noise caused by construction vehicles and equipment.
  • Crews are monitoring noise and vibration during this work.
  • Some truck traffic entering and exiting the work zone can be expected.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near construction zones.
