Utility Relocation Work for Emergency Exit Building on South Side of Eglinton - Temporary Closure of Petman Avenue

Emergency exit buildings (EEBs) are built in between the stations when station platforms are more than approximately 760 metres apart to allow for easy evacuation of passengers during an emergency situation. The construction of an EEB includes the building of an evacuation pathway, a set of stairs from the tunnel to ground level, and a small building at the surface. The scale of construction is similar to building a small-scale underground station. Generally, it takes up to 24 months to complete construction of each EEB. Read more »

Three Hour Parking – Tarlton Road Eglinton Avenue West to College View Avenue

What:  Maximum 3 hour parking will be allowed on Tarlton Road for the duration of this phase of construction on Eglinton Avenue.

Why:  On-street parking will not be available within the vicinity of construction along Eglinton Avenue between Bathurst Street and Avenue Road. To alleviate the loss of parking on Eglinton Avenue during construction, the City of Toronto, in collaboration with Metrolinx, will be adjusting the parking restrictions in certain sections to accommodate parking for the neighbourhood and businesses.     Read more »

Emergency Exit Building near Petman Avenue - Temporary Partial Driveway Blockage and Rolling Lane Restrictions

What & Where: As part of the current construction of the Emergency Exit Building (EEB) near Petman Avenue, crews will be relocating Toronto Hydro utilities on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East on City of Toronto property near 365 Eglinton Avenue East. Crews will be working on the south curb lane of Eglinton Avenue East and nearby sidewalk, between Petman Avenue and Forman Avenue. Eglinton Crosstown TBMs on the move Friday, April 17 at 9:00 p.m. – Monday, April 20 at 5:00 a.m. UPDATE

Dennis and Lea, the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) that have been building the western segment of the Eglinton Crosstown’s underground tunnel, are getting ready for their own big move.

Over the weekend of April 17–20, 2015, Dennis and Lea will be lifted out of the extraction shaft located just west of Allen Road, and moved to the launch shaft just east of Allen Road. The TBMs are being moved in order to bypass the TTC subway line in this area. Read more »

TBMs on the move April 17-20 - Specialized lift and move will result in road closures

What is happening?

Dennis and Lea, the tunnel boring machines (TBMs) that have been building the western segment of the Eglinton Crosstown’s underground tunnel, are getting ready for their own big move.

Over the weekend of April 17-20, 2015, Dennis and Lea will be lifted out of the extraction shaft located just west of Allen Road, and moved to the launch shaft just east of Allen Road. The TBMs are being moved in order to bypass the TTC subway line in this area. Read more »

Gas line relocation for future Dufferin Station Starting the week of April 6, 2015

The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section.
