Tunnelling for the Crosstown: What you may experience

As you know, tunnelling continues on the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) project as we build the underground portion of the future transit line. 

The tunnel boring machines (TBMs) operate around the clock - 24 hours a day, seven days week. On average, they each travel about 10 metres per day. Our TBMs are working about 20 metres below ground, but we do sometimes hear from nearby residents who may experience vibration from the TBMs as they pass through the area.    Read more »

Thank You Neighbour Event

Utility relocation and headwall construction for the future Avenue Station and Laird Station are complete. To thank the community for their patience during the first phase of construction, two events will be held. Preparatory work for the future station at Keele Street - Monday November 2 to Thursday November 5

What: Crews will inspect the condition of sewer lines with a closed circuit television (CCTV) truck via manholes in the vicinity of the future station site. Where required, crews may also use a hydro-vac truck to clean and safely dispose of debris. Read more »

Re-opening of Little Boulevard and Reinstatement of Eglinton Avenue West

Eglinton Avenue West and Little Boulevard.

What: Traffic will be shifted to the north lanes near the intersection of Eglinton Ave West and Little Boulevard. During this shift, Little Boulevard will be reopened to traffic.

Where: With the reinstatement of Eglinton Avenue West in this area, a construction zone will occupy the south lanes while traffic on Eglinton Avenue West will continue to be one lane in each direction in the north lanes. Read more »

Re-Opening of Pedestrian Walkway and Park Hill Road at Eglinton Avenue West

What: Pedestrian traffic is to be shifted back to the north of the extraction shaft. A traffic adjustment will also return a second eastbound lane for TTC buses, west of the Allen Road and Park Hill Road will re-open.

Where: Crews will be adjusting lanes of traffic as the work begins to reinstate the area of the tunnel extraction shaft on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West, west of the southbound Allen Road ramp.

Stage 2: Mount Pleasant Headwall Construction on the South Side of Eglinton

What phase of work is starting in the vicinity of Mount Pleasant Road? 

What:  Crews will build the Mount Pleasant headwalls on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East, east and west of Mount Pleasant Road, for the future Mount Pleasant Station in advance of tunnel construction. Headwalls are underground support walls located at the east and west ends of the station location.  Read more »
