As our constructors get ready to ramp up construction activity at the surface section of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT project, clearing, grubbing, and pruning and protection activity continues as part of preparatory work. This activity commenced two years ago and is done on an ongoing, as-needed basis to support the construction of the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit Project (ECLRT). All works will be carried out with the approvals and cooperation of the responsible authority.
Work is anticipated to resume as early as Wednesday, March 28th with arborists/crews removing trees within the designated areas from the northeast corner of Swift Drive, Don Valley East, south-side and along Eglinton Avenue, east of the West Don Bridge. These tree removals are required to support construction of the ECLRT. All removals have been approved by the City of Toronto and Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA). At the completion of the ECLRT, new trees will be planted along the Crosstown alignment.
Additionally, beginning as early as Monday, April 2nd, crews will move to areas around the Celestica Bridge, the East Don Bridge, and West Don Bridge. More details to follow.
