The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section. The line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today.

What we are building

When: Dynevor Road will be closed as early as mid June for several months.Timelines may be rescheduled or adjusted due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

Where: Dynevor Road will be closed at Eglinton Avenue West to facilitate utility relocation and headwall construction works on the southwest side of Eglinton Avenue near Dufferin Street.

Dynevor map

What: Crews have shifted the work zone to the south side of Eglinton Avenue West for utility relocation and headwall construction works of future Dufferin Station.

Why: These station headwalls are required to be in place prior to the arrival of tunnel boring machines at each of the station locations along the Eglinton Crosstown route. Construction of the headwalls requires the utilities to be moved safely out of the way during the installation of the headwalls.

Traffic Details

  • On the north side of Eglinton Avenue, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the intersection of Eglinton Avenue and Dufferin Street, extending from the east of Kirknewtown Road to east of Dufferin Street.
  • Dynevor Road will be closed at Eglinton Avenue.  As a result, Dynevor Road between Eglinton Avenue West and Hunter Avenue will be for local access only.
  • Right hand turns southbound from Dufferin Street onto Eglinton Avenue will be permitted.

Pedestrian Access

Pedestrian walkways will remain open. During construction, some sidewalks will be closed for public safety, please watch for additional signs re-directing pedestrians. Please take care when travelling near construction areas.

Transit Stop Relocations

Both eastbound and westbound TTC bus stops in the affected area will be relocated for the safety of the transit riders. Please look for posted signs indicating the new locations.

On-street Parking Restrictions

On-street parking will not be available within the vicinity of construction. To alleviate the loss of parking on Eglinton Avenue during construction, the City of Toronto in collaboration with Metrolinx will be adjusting the parking restrictions in certain sections to accommodate parking for the neighbourhood and business.

The parking hours of the following residential streets will be extended from one hour to three hours:

  • Locksley Avenue
  • Dynevor Road
  • Fairbank Avenue
  • Hartley Avenue
  • Miranda Avenue
  • Vaughan Road
  • Livingstone Avenue

Access to the Green Parking Lot at Shortt Street will remain open.

Work Hours

The hours of work as permitted by the by-law for this contract are between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., seven days a week, when required. The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at its discretion.
