What work is Taking Place?

  • Utilities relocation and support of excavation (shoring) for the new Eglinton station will require closure of the underground pedestrian tunnels at Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue leading from the current TTC subway station (pictured below).  Tunnel closures will correspond to different phases of the construction work.

Timing

  • The East and North tunnels are proposed to be closed as early as late September 2016. They will remain closed for approximately four years.
  • The West tunnel leading from the concourse level of the station to the RioCan building on the north side of Eglinton Avenue is proposed to be closed as early as January 2017. It will remain closed for approximately four years.

What to Expect

  • Increased pedestrian traffic above and below ground.
  • All access to businesses will be maintained.
