Upcoming Works: Demolition at 795 Warden Avenue

What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning as early as April 11, 2018, the property at 795 Warden Avenue will be demolished to make way for the construction of one of the Traction Power Substations (TPSS) that will power the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT).  The work will take place within a protected work zone. Both traffic and pedestrian pathways will not be affected by this work. Read more »

Work requiring the temporary closure of the southbound lane, just south of Eglinton Avenue East will occur over the next week. Southbound traffic will be maintained by removing the northbound dedicated left turn lane.

Overnight Utility Relocation on Transway Crescent and Kennedy Road in Support of Construction of the Future Kennedy Station

What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future Kennedy Station, crews will be relocating watermain and sanitary utilities on Transway Crescent, including a partial crossing of Kennedy Road, starting as soon as April 9, 2018. To reduce impacts to the community and commuters this work will be performed overnight and will take approximately two weeks to complete.  The work is part of the larger upgrade and relocation of utilities for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. Pedestrian Route Changes Leaside Station

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Over the next month, crews will complete right of way works including restoration of curbs and sidewalks on the south side of Eglinton Avenue both east and west of Bayview Avenue. This will result in some periodic changes to pedestrian circulation. Please watch for orange and black signage that directs pedestrians.

These works are required to support the completion of decking and restoration of the work zone to allow crews to shift to working on the north side of Eglinton Avenue in May 2018.

Upcoming Parking Reduction at Kennedy Station in April 2018

As part of construction of the future Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT), improvements are also being made to the GO Corridor Stouffville Line at Kennedy Station. These include building a new west platform, rebuilding the existing east platform, constructing a new ticketing building for the GO Station, and building a new south pedestrian underpass. 

In order to facilitate these improvements, roughly 113 parking spaces at the South Parking Lot will be removed so that the work can be undertaken in a safe manner. Read more »

Geotechnical Instrumentation Installations and Monitoring between West of Midland and Kennedy Road

What Work is Taking Place?  

As part of the ongoing construction works for the future Kennedy Station, installation of above ground and in-ground monitoring points will take place in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue and Kennedy Road. Monitoring evaluates the impact of construction works and monitoring points are located on Eglinton Avenue from Kennedy Rd to Eglinton Overpass just west of Midland Avenue. Read more »

UPDATE: Storm Sewer Installation at Mount Pleasant Station

What Work is Taking Place?

In December 2018, crews began installation of a new storm sewer along the south side of Eglinton Avenue East.  Beginning March 8, storm sewer installation will resume.  The storm sewer will be installed using a hand-mining method whereby pipe is hydraulically pushed from the shafts at Taunton Road and Brownlow Avenue while soil is simultaneously removed.  Once the pipe installation is complete, connection work will be performed to connect the sewer to the existing storm infrastructure.  Read more »
