Overnight Geotechnical Works: Dec. 1 & 2 Eglinton Lane Reduction to a Single Lane between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street

What Work is Taking Place?

Overnight lane reduction to a single lane of traffic on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street will be required for two nights, as crews drill boreholes in the road to determine the condition of existing soil and rocks in the area. Boreholes will be drilled along Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street in advance of the construction of Laird and Science Centre Stations. Read more »

Update: Shoring and Excavation Work Continues for Laird Station

Since June 2016, shoring and excavation work has been underway within the main and secondary entrance sites for the future Laird Station. In January 2017, the long-term road occupancy and sidewalk closure is expected to begin and will remain for the duration of the work – upwards of 40 months.  Read more »

Shoring for Caledonia Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning in November 2016, crews will start support of excavation work, also known as shoring, at the future Caledonia Station.  The station is located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West between Gabian Way and Croham Road (in front of Westside Mall).  Shoring is a common step in the process of constructing the foundation of a building.  Steel piles, as well as braces and tie-backs, will be installed around the perimeter of the station box area to support excavation. UPDATE – Re-configuration of Emergency Exit Site at Petman Avenue

What Work is Taking Place?

The configuration of the current Emergency Exit Building site will be altered.  The existing vehicular access to 393 Eglinton Avenue East (Mac’s Convenience Store) parking lot, via Petman Avenue, will be closed.  Starting in late November, vehicles must use Eglinton Avenue East to access the Mac’s Convenience Store parking lot.    Read more »

Backfilling and Compaction at Eglinton Station

What Work is Taking Place?

  • Backfilling and compaction is the next stage of construction at the abandoned TTC bus depot, located at the south west corner of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue West.
  • This work involves refilling and leveling the demolition site with fresh granular material and compaction of the material into the ground. This activity will prepare the site for support of excavation, the following phase of construction.
