Upcoming: North Entrance Closure and Demolition at Kennedy Station in Fall 2017

We have been busy building you the new 19-kilometre Eglinton Crosstown light rail transit (LRT) line!

This has involved lots of moving parts — excavations at future stations, relocating and upgrading utilities, road widening, and center-medians removal work for future stops.

Now we are working at the eastern end of the Crosstown LRT line at Kennedy Station — a future interchange station (pictured below). Read more »

Update: September 24th Closure of West Underground Pedestrian Tunnel at Eglinton Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Support of excavation (shoring) for the new Eglinton station will require closure of the underground pedestrian tunnel at Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue leading from the Eglinton TTC subway station (pictured below) to the Riocan Yonge-Eglinton Centre. Read more »

Sewer Re-lining Works at Laird Station

Sewer re-lining is a process intended to increase the durability of the sewers.  At Laird Drive and Eglinton Avenue East, local sewers will be re-lined in the vicinity of the construction sites. 

The liner is a flexible membrane that is placed inside the sewers. Lining is designed to be generally non-disruptive and eliminates the need for excavation of the entire sewer section. The required activities take approximately three days for each sewer section.  Read more »

Utilities Relocation Continues for Chaplin Station 

What Work is Taking Place?

Since 2016, crews have been conducting utilities relocation work to make way for the construction of Chaplin Station.  Beginning in mid-September, crews will resume utilities relocation, including Bell duct bank work and relocation of a 300mm sanitary sewer. The work will be carried out within the existing work zones at the intersection of Chaplin Crescent and Eglinton Avenue West.

Early Morning Concrete Pour at Brentcliffe Portal

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will be pouring the concrete foundation for the Brentcliffe Portal.  Work will be conducted within the existing work zone located on Eglinton Avenue East between Brentcliffe Road and Leslie Street. Due to the large size of these concrete pours, work will start at 4:00 a.m. in order to complete the pour during daytime hours, reducing impact to traffic in the area.   Read more »

Emergency Exit Shaft near Leaside Station: Tunnel Invert Concrete Pour

What Work is Taking Place?

To prepare for track system installation in the new LRT tunnels, concrete must be poured to form the foundation of the track. The emergency exit site in front of Leaside High School will be used as the access points to the tunnels.

Trucks will access the tunnel shaft from the construction site entrance near Bessborough Drive, pump concrete into a pipe, and drive the concrete down the tunnel to where it will be poured into place. Read more »
