What Work is Taking Place?

  • Three commercial and residential properties (1843, 1845 and 1849 Eglinton Avenue West) will be demolished to make way for the Fairbank station service building
  • The service building will host electrical and mechanical systems

Timing

  • Demolition work will begin as early as July 6, and will last for approximately six weeks (subject to all relevant approvals)
  • This work will be conducted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM

What to Expect

  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise in the area caused by excavators, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment, as well as dust from demolition activity and debris removal
  • For safety purposes, metal fencing will be installed around the properties to be demolished and the sidewalk will be closed
  • Pedestrian traffic will be rerouted onto Eglinton Avenue West and sectioned off with jersey barriers

Traffic Details 

  • The eastbound lanes of Eglinton Avenue West will be closed west of Kirknewton Road to west of Northcliffe Boulevard
  • Traffic will be shifted to the north side of Eglinton Avenue West with one lane of traffic in each direction
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites

TTC Details

  • Bus route #32 will continue to travel east and west along Eglinton Avenue West during this work. The eastbound bus stop at Dufferin Street will be relocated to the west side of Dynevor Road. The westbound bus stop at Dufferin Street will be relocated to the west side of Shortt St.
