What work is starting?

In February 2016, crews began conducting preparatory activities and utilities works including surveying, locating utilities, and drilling boreholes to obtain additional information of sub-surface utilities and ground conditions in the Mount Pleasant Road and Eglinton Avenue East vicinity to make way for the future Mount Pleasant Station.

Upcoming Works – Demolition

  • Two commercial properties along the Eglinton Avenue East corridor will be demolished to make way for the construction of Mount Pleasant Station (secondary entrance).
  • The properties are located at 280 and 282 Eglinton Avenue East, on the east side of Mount Pleasant Road on Eglinton Avenue East.
  • For safety purposes, temporary fencing will be installed around each demolition site.

  • Demolition works will last for three weeks and are expected to begin as early as the beginning of March 2016, subject to approvals.
  • Demolition works will take place between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

What to expect

  • Residents and businesses near demolition sites should anticipate noise from excavators, bobcats, and other construction equipment as well as dust caused by demolition activity and removal of debris.
  • One tree will be removed from the site, in accordance with all relevant City by-laws.

Traffic Impacts

  • Road closures are not anticipated for demolition works.
  • Sidewalk and property access will be maintained.

If you would like more detail about this work or any other aspect of the Eglinton Crosstown project, please do not hesitate to contact Heather Glicksman at (416) 482-7411. We thank you for your continued patience as we work to build rapid transit.

The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with an underground central section. The line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and the new service will be up to 60% faster than the bus service today.
