What Work is Taking Place

The term “dewatering” means pumping from the ground water at a site where there will be excavation.  At Eglinton Avenue East between Lillian Street and Redpath Avenue, half a dozen small wells will be drilled for the future Cross Passage. The volume of soil that requires dewatering is significant.  The wells will be drilled and shallow trenches will be required to lay the pipes, pumps, wells and valves to do the work.

Hours of Work / What to Expect

  • Works will commence as early as June 14, 2017*
  • Drilling and trenching will occur between 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • The entire installation will take approximately five weeks.
  • Equipment will remain in place after the rig has finished for the day. This approach will expedite the work and ensure it continues to move around the zone efficiently.
  • Generators, pumps and water storage tanks will be stored in a closure on the south sidewalk of Eglinton Ave East until the end of November (1.5m sidewalk will be maintained).
  • Once installed, the system will run continuously.
* Timelines are subject to change due to weather and unforeseen circumstances.
