Pedestrian Safety near Construction Sites

The tunnelled section between Brentcliffe Road and Black Creek Drive is complete, and last year, construction activities began at all 15 underground stations including Kennedy Station. The preparatory works at the at-grade portion of the line, between Brentcliffe Road and Kennedy Station, also started this summer. Since the end of school, many work zones have been set up for construction and some major intersections along Eglinton Avenue have changed.

Watermain Service Work at Fairbank Station

What work is taking place?

Beginning as early as July 24, crews will be performing water main service work in the vicinity of Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West. The work will take place primarily in the existing work zones, but temporary pedestrian rerouting around work zones may be in effect. Read more »

Shoring and Utilities Relocation in the Roadway at Fairbank Station

 

What work is taking Place?

Since fall 2016, crews have been conducting support of excavation work (also known as shoring) at the Main Entrance and Service Building sites of the future Fairbank Station.  In mid-May 2017, crews will begin shoring of the station box, as well as wet utilities relocation, starting on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.  Read more »

Traffic Signal Hanging at Fairbank Station

What Work is Taking Place?

To make way for station construction, crews must relocate and hang the existing traffic signals at Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West.  Traffic signal relocation will take place over five days, with curbside lane closures throughout the intersection.  Crews will install temporary traffic poles and signals at each corner of the intersection.  The temporary traffic signals and cables will be hung overhead, while the existing traffic poles are removed.
