EXTENDED CONSTRUCTION HOURS
WEST DON RIVER BRIDGE TO VICTORIA PARK AVENUE
WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?
Construction of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT is underway along Eglinton Avenue East between the West Don River Bridge and Victoria Park Avenue. Major intersection work is now complete between Leslie Street and Victoria Park Avenue.
Starting November 11, 2019, crews will work extended hours to accelerate construction. Construction activities will include, guideway construction, road widening, retaining wall construction, hydro utility installation and bridge rehabilitation.
TIMING
- Construction will take place between 4:30 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., Monday through Saturday, from November 11, 2019 through spring 2020
- The period between 4:30 a.m. – 7:00 a.m. will be primarily used to perform less noisy work, such as site and traffic staging, preparatory works, excavation, concrete pours, deliveries and hauling
- The contractor may not always work these hours, but may do so at its discretion; work may be rescheduled or extended due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Daily temporary lane closures along Eglinton Ave E and cross streets between the West Don River Bridge and Victoria Park Ave will be in effect to facilitate construction and deliveries
- Short-term pedestrian rerouting as well as temporary sidewalk and crosswalk closures may be required to safely facilitate construction
- Noise from construction activities and equipment, such as removal of asphalt, excavation, trucks and generators can be expected
- Barriers, fencing, dust cloth and signage will be present in and around work zones
- Site lighting can be expected

TRAFFIC IMPACTS
- A minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction on Eglinton Ave E will be maintained
- Traffic control personnel and/or Paid Duty Officers may be present to assist with traffic control
- Minor changes to traffic configuration, such as removal of barriers, may be required to facilitate construction
- Motorists may experience delays when travelling near work zones
PEDESTRIAN IMPACTS
- Pedestrian rerouting, sidewalk and crosswalk closures may be in effect to safely facilitate construction
- Pedestrian routes will be clearly marked with signage
TTC IMPACTS
- TTC bus stops may be temporarily relocated or removed during construction
- Relocation and removal of bus stops is done in consultation with the TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers
- TTC riders should look for signage directing them to the appropriate stop location
