January 6, 2016

This notice is to update you that the geotechnical activities that have been taking place in your area since mid-December 2015 will end by January 9, 2016. We thank you for your patience as we continue to build the Eglinton Crosstown.

Metrolinx continues to build the Eglinton Crosstown. It is now partnering with Crosstown Transit Solutions (CTS) to design and construct the stations and stops, track work, and signaling system for the Line. Before starting construction on the future Yonge (Crosstown) Station, CTS will conduct a number of activities in the vicinity to prepare the site for construction.

What work is continuing?

  • In mid-December 2015, a crew began geotechnical investigations, cutting test holes in the road asphalt and/or on sidewalks to confirm the existing data of soil, rocks, and utilities conditions in the area. The small holes are cut along Eglinton Avenue West from Duplex Avenue to east of Holly Street
  • Heavy trucks and equipment in the area as crews move from one test hole to the next.
  • While work is underway, nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear some noise related to the crews use of a hydro-vac system and heavy machinery.

  • Work taking place near the Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue intersection will occur overnight.
  • The remaining utility investigation work is expected to be complete by January 9, 2016.
  • Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

  • Our crews will be visible on Eglinton Avenue east of Yonge Street.
