Geotechnical Works for Science Centre Station

What Work is Taking Place?

• As part of the preparatory work for Science Centre Station, crews will drill boreholes in the road to determine the condition of existing soil, rocks and utilities in the area. Boreholes will be drilled along Eglinton Avenue East from Don Mills Road to Gervais Drive, within the intersection of Don Mills and Eglinton, and on Gervais Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue East.  

Timing

• Geotechnical works will begin as early as July 18, 2016 and continue for approximately two weeks. Work within the Don Mills and Eglinton intersection will last for approximately two to three days.
• Work will be conducted between the hours of approximately 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
• Work could be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances

What to Expect

• Intermittent lane reductions can be expected with this work. Equipment and work trucks will be present along Eglinton Avenue East from Don Mills Road to Gervais Drive, as crews move from one hole to the next.
• Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, and the use of heavy equipment.

Traffic Details 

• Intermittent lane reductions along Eglinton Avenue East between Gervais Drive and Don Mills Road and within the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East will be required for this work. 
• Access to northbound Gervais Drive will be maintained. 
• Equipment is removed at the end of each work day. 
• Pedestrian and property access will be maintained.
• As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
