Demolition at the future Chaplin Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning as early as mid-October 2016, crews will demolish the east portion of 641 Eglinton Avenue West, the former Toronto Fire Hall 135, to make way for the tertiary entrance of the future Chaplin Station.  The west portion of the building will be preserved for future development.  A cinderblock retaining wall will be constructed and installed to protect the west portion of the structure during demolition activity. Overhead Hydro Work Continues for Leaside Station

What Work is Happening?

Since September 2016, crews have been completing overhead hydro relocations around the Bayview Avenue and Eglinton Avenue intersection. As early as the week of October 24, crews will be replacing overhead wires and anchors on the south side of Eglinton Avenue East at Bessborough Drive.

Telecom Relocation for Leaside Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will relocate existing telecommunications utilities from overhead to underground around the Eglinton Avenue and Bayview Avenue intersection. For the safety of the public and workers, temporary pedestrian and traffic changes will be in effect to accommodate this work. Read more »

Sidewalk Closure on Eglinton Avenue West

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews continue demolition of the former TTC Bus Bay site at 2190 Yonge Street. To ensure the safety of pedestrians and the general public, the sidewalk on the south side of Eglinton Avenue between Duplex Avenue and Yonge Street will close temporarily during this phase of work.

Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring at Cedarvale Station

What Work is Taking Place?

  • Geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring is required for the protection of the existing buildings and underground utilities by monitoring movements of the ground, support of excavation, utilities, structures and groundwater regime, prior, during and following construction in order to assess the need for implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Crews will drill approximately 15+ boreholes in the Cedarvale Station area to install geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring equipment.
