Geotechnical Instrumentation and Monitoring at Cedarvale Station

What Work is Taking Place?

  • Geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring is required for the protection of the existing buildings and underground utilities by monitoring movements of the ground, support of excavation, utilities, structures and groundwater regime, prior, during and following construction in order to assess the need for implementation of mitigation measures.
  • Crews will drill approximately 15+ boreholes in the Cedarvale Station area to install geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring equipment.

Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) Investigations at Cedarvale Station

What Work is Taking Place?

  • To prepare for future construction of Cedarvale Station, crews will be conducting Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations along the shoulder of Allen Road North and South, north of Eglinton Avenue West.
  • Crews will drill bore holes and use a hydro-vacuum truck on the shoulder of the road to determine the location of the underground utilities and the ground conditions around the intersection for design purposes. 

Timing

  • Work is expected to begin the evening of October 12th and will take approximately two

Backfilling and Compaction at Fairbank Station

Telecommunication Utilities Relocation for Science Centre Station

What Work is Taking Place?

In October 2016, crews will begin relocation of existing telecommunication lines in the vicinity of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East.  Telecommunication lines within man holes as well within pre-existing duct banks will be relocated in preparation for station construction.  All work conducted during this phase will occur within the public boulevards.  Read more »

Update: Traffic Light Works at Laird Station

What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will begin to relocate traffic lights around the Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive intersection. Crews will also install a temporary signalized pedestrian crossing on Eglinton Avenue East, just west of Don Avon Drive. Geotechnical Monitoring and Instrumentation Works at Eglinton Station

What Work is Taking Place?

  • Crews will drill several boreholes in the Eglinton Station area to install monitoring equipment that measures settlement or movement in the existing structures during the forthcoming shoring (support of excavation).
  • Work will take place intermittently along Eglinton Avenue, Yonge Street, Cowbell Lane, Holly Street, Duplex Avenue, and Berwick Avenue, as crews move from one borehole to the next.

Pending permits and approvals, work will commence to reconfigure the traffic lights and introduce traffic staging at the Yonge-Eglinton intersection to prepare for upcoming utilities relocations.
