What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing pavement reconstruction works along Eglinton Avenue East in support of construction of the future surface stops, crews will continue with guideway excavation from Birchmount Road to Rosemount Drive.

As early as October 9th, 2019 the construction zone will shift to the center of Eglinton Avenue East between Birchmount Road to Rosemount Drive and be in place for approximately four (4) weeks. 

The work includes cutting and removal of asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops. 

 

 

 

Hours of Work

Work is expected to start as early as October 9, 2019 and last for approximately four (4) weeks.

Time: guideway work will be performed between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.

 

What to Expect

Cutting and removal of existing asphalt will take place in the center of Eglinton Avenue East. The work will be performed within a protected work zone.

Eglinton Avenue East remains open in both directions at all times.

Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavation, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.  

Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when traveling through work zone.

As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

 

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

 

A minimum of one lane of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work. 

Emergency services access will be maintained. 

Pedestrian access will be maintained.

 

TTC Impacts

 

TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
