What Work is Taking Place?

As part of the ongoing pavement reconstruction works at intersections along Eglinton Avenue East in support of construction of the future surface stops, crews will be conducting pavement reconstruction works at Warden intersection at Eglinton Avenue East. As early as July 29, 2019 the construction zone will shift to the center of Eglinton Avenue East at Warden Avenue and be in place for approximately six (6) weeks. There will be no through north-south traffic on Warden and left turn restrictions at the intersection.

The work includes cutting and removal of asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation and track drainage, track slab and stops.

Hours of Work
  • Work is expected to start as early as July 29, 2019 and last for approximately six (6) weeks.
  • Time: guideway work will be performed between the hours of 7 a.m. and 11 p.m.
  • Note: Unexpected circumstances (weather, equipment failure, etc.) may also change the above interruption plans or prolong the interruption. If this occurs, we will endeavour to provide reasonable notice.
What to Expect
  • Cutting and removal of existing asphalt will take place in the center of Eglinton Avenue East. The work will be preformed within a protected work zone.
  • Eglinton Avenue East remains open in both directions at all times.
  • There will be no through north-south traffic at the intersection during the duration of this work.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavation, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.  
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when traveling through work zone.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
  • A minimum of two lanes of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work. 
  • Left turn restrictions will be in place at the intersection during this work.
  • There will be alternating north-south crosswalk closures during this work. One north-south crosswalk will remain open at all times.
  • Emergency services access will be maintained. 
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses respectively, is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
