What Work is Taking Place?
Crews will remove existing traffic signals and install temporary traffic signals on Eglinton Avenue East between Leslie Street and Kennedy Road, to make way for the construction of future surface stops for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
Timing
- Work is expected to begin as early as October 19th and should take approximately four months to complete.
- Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
- The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
- Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
- Crews will remove existing traffic signals on the four corners of each intersection, followed by installation of temporary CCTV and new signal poles on the four corners.
- Crossings will remain open for pedestrians.
- Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from trucks and other construction equipment used to perform construction activities.
Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts
- A minimum of two through lanes of traffic will be maintained while the work is being performed.
- Paid-Duty Police Officers will be present during this work.
- Existing crosswalk and sidewalk closures will remain in effect.
- Please watch for signs directing pedestrians to alternate routes.
TTC Details
- TTC bus stops in the work area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
- Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation between TTC and Metrolinx to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
