Shoring for Caledonia Station
What Work is Taking Place?
Beginning in November 2016, crews will start support of excavation work, also known as shoring, at the future Caledonia Station. The station is located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West between Gabian Way and Croham Road (in front of Westside Mall). Shoring is a common step in the process of constructing the foundation of a building. Steel piles, as well as braces and tie-backs, will be installed around the perimeter of the station box area to support excavation. Read more »

To prepare for future construction of Eglinton Station, crews will be decommissioning monitoring wells along Eglinton Avenue between Duplex Avenue and Cowbell Lane.

UPDATE – Re-configuration of Emergency Exit Site at Petman Avenue
What Work is Taking Place?
The configuration of the current Emergency Exit Building site will be altered. The existing vehicular access to 393 Eglinton Avenue East (Mac’s Convenience Store) parking lot, via Petman Avenue, will be closed. Starting in late November, vehicles must use Eglinton Avenue East to access the Mac’s Convenience Store parking lot. Read more »
Backfilling and Compaction at Eglinton Station
What Work is Taking Place?
- Backfilling and compaction is the next stage of construction at the abandoned TTC bus depot, located at the south west corner of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue West.
- This work involves refilling and leveling the demolition site with fresh granular material and compaction of the material into the ground. This activity will prepare the site for support of excavation, the following phase of construction.

Update: Hydro Utility Relocations for Science Centre Station: Pedestrian Crosswalk Closure and TTC Bus Detour
What Work is Taking Place?
In mid-November crews began to set-up work zones within the roadway at both the northwest and southwest corners of Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East as crews continue to relocate existing utilities at the intersection. Work began on relocating hydro utilities and work continues on relocating telecommunication lines within man holes as well within pre-existing duct banks in preparation for station construction. Hydro Utility Relocation at Chaplin Station
What Work is Taking Place?
Crews will relocate overhead hydro utilities in the vicinity of Chaplin Crescent and Eglinton Avenue West to prepare for construction of Chaplin Station. Existing hydro poles and cables will be removed. Temporary poles will be installed, and the cables will be relocated to the temporary poles and an underground duct bank. Temporary services outages will be required to switch service over to the new hydro infrastructure. Some businesses or residents may experience short-duration hydro outages of approximately 20 minutes. Read more »

Support of Excavation Works at Forest Hill Station
What Work is Taking Place?
Beginning in early to mid-November, and pending permit approval, crews will start support of excavation work, also known as shoring, at the future Forest Hill Station. The station is located at the intersection of Bathurst Street and Eglinton Avenue West, with the main station entrance on the northeast corner and the secondary entrance located mid-block on the northwest corner. Steel piles as well as braces and tie-backs will be installed around the perimeter of the station box and entrances to support excavation. Read more »
Update: Geotechnical Works continue at Kennedy Station
What Work is Taking Place?
- In February 2016, crews began conducting geotechnical works along Eglinton Avenue East to make way for the future Eglinton Crosstown LRT.
- Pending TTC approval and City of Toronto permits, crews will drill boreholes in the roadway along Eglinton Avenue East in the vicinity of Kennedy Station, from Rosemount Drive to West of Midland Avenue to determine the condition of existing asphalt soil and rocks.
