What Work is Taking Place?

On Wednesday June 17, 2020, crews at Fairbank will performing daylighting activities for the watermain on Dufferin Street. To complete this work, the northbound lane on Dufferin Street, north of Eglinton Avenue W, will be closed. One lane on Dufferin Street will remain open, and two-way traffic will be controlled by traffic control personnel and Paid Duty Officers. The lanes will be reduced from as early as 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances
  • This work may be longer or shorter than expected

What to Expect

  • One lane on Dufferin Street will be closed while crews will be daylighting the watermain. Upon completion of the works, Dufferin Street will re-open to two lanes.
  • There will be flagpersons directing traffic through the area for the duration of the work.
  • Noise from construction equipment can be expected
  • Local and pedestrian access will be maintained
  • Property access will be maintained
  • Expect delays while travelling near work zones

Traffic & Pedestrian Details

  • The pedestrian routes at the intersection will remain the same
  • Access to properties along Vaughan Road, Eglinton Avenue West, and Dufferin Street will be maintained
  • Dufferin Street will be reduced to one lane only north of Eglinton Avenue West from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Transit Information

  • No impacts to TTC bus service

Travelling Smart during Construction 

Travel delays are expected with the Crosstown construction. Please allow extra time for your journey. Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Crosstown construction. When possible, please travel during the off-peak period between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
