What work is taking place?

As early as mid-January 2020, crews at Black Creek Drive will be installing lighting under the elevated guideway for approximately four days. The installation will take place in three phases. Phase one will be overnight and require a northbound closure of Black Creek Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue West. Traffic travelling northbound on Black Creek Drive will be required to turn eastbound or westbound at Eglinton Avenue West. During the daytime, the northbound lanes will reopen.

Phases two and three will require two lane closures of vehicular traffic travelling southbound on Black Creek Drive, north of Eglinton Avenue West. During this time, eastbound and westbound turns will be restricted. This work will take place during the daytime, off-peak hours.

 Hours of Work

  • Crews will be working for approximately one (1) night during phase one. During the daytime, the lanes will reopen.
  • During phases two and three, crews will be working during off-peak hours for approximately two (2) days.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

 

What to Expect

Phase One

  • Traffic travelling northbound on Black Creek Drive will be prohibited from going straight through the intersection. Traffic will need to turn eastbound or westbound upon reaching Eglinton Avenue West.
  • Traffic travelling southbound on Black Creek Drive will not be affected.
  • Left turns onto Black Creek Drive will be restricted for traffic travelling eastbound on Eglinton Avenue West.
  • Right turns onto Black Creek Drive will be restricted for traffic travelling westbound on Eglinton Avenue West.

Phase Two and Three

  • Traffic travelling northbound on Black Creek Drive will not be affected.
  • Traffic travelling southbound on Black Creek Drive will be reduced to two lanes, with one lane designated as a turning lane.

During phase two, left turns onto Eglinton Avenue West will be restricted.

During phase three, right turns onto Eglinton Avenue West will be restricted for vehicular traffic. TTC buses will be permitted to turn right.

  • Traffic travelling eastbound and westbound on Eglinton Avenue West will not be affected.
  • Pedestrian routes will remain the same.
