What we are building

What:  Construction of the headwalls for the future Bathurst station requires a small grout plant to be established nearby to pump a form of concrete, otherwise known as “grout”, to the station headwall location. In order to minimize road occupancy on Eglinton Avenue West this grout plant will be located within a section on Peveril Hill North, south of Eglinton. Some road adjustments will take place to accommodate the grout plant.

Why:  Crews will be building headwalls for Bathurst Station. Headwalls are underground support walls located at the east and west ends of the future station location. Station headwalls are required to be in place prior to the arrival of tunnel boring machines at each of the station locations along the Eglinton Crosstown route.

Where:  The jet grout plant will be located on the roadway at the northeast corner of Peveril Hill North and Eglinton Avenue West. A fence will enclose the site to separate the site from the public roadway.

When:  The setup of the grout plant is expected to start in early September 2014, followed by the construction of the headwalls. The grout plant is expected to remain in place for the duration of headwall construction from summer 2014 until winter 2015. Some work may be rescheduled or adjusted due to weather conditions and unforeseen circumstances.

There will be no access to Eglinton Avenue West from Peveril Hill North.

Peveril Hill North between Dewbourne Avenue & Eglinton Avenue will be local-access only. Residents & local businesses are permitted to travel in both directions between Dewbourne Avenue & Eglinton Avenue on Peveril Hill North during this closure.

Initial preparations will require rolling lane restrictions on Eglinton Ave. West for installation of grout lines. Please take care when travelling near construction areas.

Pedestrian Information

Pedestrian walkways will remain open; however a detour around the jet grout plant will be in place. Pedestrians will be separated from construction with a chain link fence.
