What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning the week of July 29, 2019, crews will commence excavation at the Chaplin Station Main Entrance site, located on the north side of Eglinton Avenue, between Chaplin Crescent and Gilgorm Road.  Excavators will dig and remove soil from the work zone.  The excavated material will be transferred into dump trucks and hauled to an off-site facility.  Installation of tie-backs will take place from within the site as excavation progresses.

Changes to construction configuration will occur as excavation progresses and will be communicated in a future notice.

Details

  • Excavation will begin July 29, 2019 for several months.
  • Excavation will take place between 6:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., weekdays from July 29 – August 9, 2019; shifting to a 7:00 a.m. start for the remainder of the works.

What to Expect

  • Frequent dump truck activity at the west Main Entrance gates.
  • Noise from excavators and dump trucks.
  • For safety, pedestrians travelling near the site gates will be stopped when trucks enter and exit the site. 
  • Changes to configuration, including pedestrians routes, will occur as excavation progresses and will be communicated in a future notice.
  • Motorists can expect delays when travelling through the intersection.
