What Work is Taking Place

As part of construction of the future surface alignment for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT, crews will be conducting mid-block guideway and stop construction between Victoria Park Avenue and Ionview Road, for approximately eight (8) months through spring 2020.

Guideway and stop construction includes: cutting and removal of asphalt, excavation, installation of subgrade materials, duct banks installation, track drainage, track installation, signal work and stop construction.

The sequence of stop construction will begin with Pharmacy, Hakimi, O’Connor (at Victoria Park Avenue), Birchmount, Ionview, and Golden Mile (at Warden Avenue) consecutively.

Hours of Work

Construction will take place between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.

The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours but may do so at its discretion.

Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

Daily temporary lane closures.

Periodic sidewalk and crosswalk closures.

Noise from construction equipment, generators and vehicles.

Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from excavation, bobcats, trucks and other construction equipment as well as site lighting.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

A minimum of one lane of eastbound and westbound through traffic will be maintained during this work.

Intermittent closures of the east and west crosswalks will be in effect during this work; one north-south crosswalk will remain open at all times.

Emergency services access will be maintained.

TTC Impacts

TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders.

Relocation and re-routing of bus stops and buses is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely, while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
