March 16, 2015

What: Monitoring equipment will be installed at major intersections along Eglinton Avenue East. This equipment will measure noise and vibration that may be related to the work of our tunnel boring machines underground. These measurements will allow construction crews to adjust tunnelling activities along Eglinton Avenue East if needed.

Where: The equipment will be installed within the roadway along Eglinton Avenue East at major intersections between Mount Pleasant Road and Laird Drive. While this equipment is being installed, crews will be working within one lane of traffic with rolling lane closures to drill and install monitoring equipment. As this takes place, paid-duty police officers will be on-site.

When: The installation of the monitoring equipment will begin as early as mid-March 2015 and be completed in late spring 2015

Traffic Details

  • Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction near the work zone, and temporary lane closures will be required to allow crews to perform work safely
  • Traffic will be diverted around the work zone, separated by traffic cones
  • This construction will temporarily block laneways in the area

Efforts will be made to expedite the work as much as possible, and minimize disruption to rush hour traffic.

Pedestrians:

Pedestrians will not be affected by this work. Access to all stores and businesses in the area will remain open during this installation. As always, please take care when travelling near construction areas.

Work Hours

This work will be carried out between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., 7 days a week, when required. The contractor will not always work during the extended hours, but may do so at its discretion.
