What Work is Taking Place?

  • As part of the ongoing construction works for the future Laird Station, installation of above ground and in-ground monitoring points will take place periodically in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive.
  • Monitoring points will be installed on Eglinton Avenue East from Sutherland Drive to Brentcliffe Road and on Laird Drive between Donlea Drive and Parklea Drive

Timing

  • The installations and readings will occur periodically for duration of the project.
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7am and 11pm, 7 days a week. The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • For installation work, occupancy of the roadway is permitted between 9am to 4pm on arterial roads and 7am-8pm on local roads.
  • For readings, occupancy of the roadway is permitted from 9am to 4pm and from 6pm to 11pm.

What to Expect

  • Construction crews and equipment will be present along roadways and sidewalks along Eglinton Avenue and/or Laird Drive.
  • Each monitoring point installation process can take anywhere from one hour up to a few days, depending on the type of installation.
  • For installations, nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, hydro-vaccing, and the use of heavy equipment.
  • Reading crews move from instrument to instrument and may be present at each site from five minutes to an hour.

Traffic Details

  • Short term lane closures on Eglinton Avenue and/or Laird Drive will be required. Some lane closures may be left in place overnight.
  • Parking spaces may be impacted depending on the location of the installation. Protection is set-up around the work area, which may require a few spots at a time.
  • All access to businesses and driveways will be maintained.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
Pedestrian Details
  • Intermittent sidewalk closures will be required for this work. Signage will be place in various locations to direct pedestrians to use the other side by crossing at identified intersection.
