What Work is Taking Place?
- As part of the preparatory works for the future Leaside Station construction, installation of above ground and in-ground monitoring points will take place in the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue East and Bayview Avenue. These monitors will provide information on ground conditions during station construction.
Timing
- Installations will begin as early as late September and will continue until early October.
- Works will be completed between the hours 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
What to Expect
- Construction crews and equipment will be present along roadways and sidewalks near Eglinton Avenue East and Bayview Avenue.
- Crews move from site to site, and will be present at each site from a few hours to four days.
- Nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear noise related to drilling, saw-cutting, vacuuming, and the use of heavy equipment.
Pedestrian Details
- Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout the works. Some portions of sidewalk may need to be closed during work hours, in which cases pedestrians will be directed through alternative routes.
- Some installation sites may be located on the edge of the curb or roadway, in which case there would be protection erected around the worksite with a minimum of 1.5m for pedestrians maintained at all times.
Traffic Details
- During the day, traffic lanes may be reduced. Short term lane closures will allow the crews to perform their work safely. Some lane closures may be left in place overnight.
- Parking spaces may be impacted depending on the location of the installation. Protection is set-up around the work area, which may require a few spots at a time.
- As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
